Samuel H. Fairall collection, 1840-ca. 1905.

A set of documents secured by Fairall and presented to the State Historical Society of Iowa and a newspaper article (1905) about Judge Fairall and the documents. The documents include a warrant issued by justice of the peace, A.D. Stephen of Johnson County, for the capture of a runaway slave, John Solomon, thought to be in the Iowa Territory (1840), and a letter written by Henry Early of Pike County, Missouri offering a reward for the return of the slave. The collection also includes typescript copies of the documents.
